University of the Virgin Islands Research and Technology Park
Combine unmatched technology with the tax-advantages of operating in the American Paradise and the University of the Virgin Islands Research and Technology Park (RTPark) leads the way in enhancing the value of your business. The park is strategically located where the global subsea Tier-1 fiber networks make landfall and brings together solutions for co-location data center and managed services including: web hosting; Tier-1 network connectivity and e-commerce payment and transaction processing.
As a territory of the United States with close proximity to the US mainland, the USVI helps you leverage "near shore" benefits, including protecting your intellectual property under the US flag and federal law and corporate tax incentives. Our strategic partners ensure smooth operations and benefits you wonít receive anywhere else, such as multiple redundancies to ensure quality connections.
RTPark is affiliated with the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and headquartered on its St. Croix campus. The facilities are ideal for conducting ecommerce including business-to-business and business-to-consumer data transactions, electronic data interchange and other digital supply transactions, financial settlements, web-based marketing, advisory and transactional services, database services and products, swift payments, fed wire, online services such as telecommuting, telemedicine, education and information research, and all related data communication services, whether conducted by e-mail, document management, voice or data transmission.
64 West: Our Tier-1 Collocation Data Center Facility
64 West is the only Tier-1 point of presence and data center inside a fiber landing facility in the USVI and is a key initiative of RTPark. E-commerce companies seeking competitive advantage will find it here. With the assistance of key strategic partners including Adveniat and Tropical Tower, we provide mission critical telecommunications, managed services including hosting and transactions processing to support our tenant's objectives.
Collaborative Innovation Center
RTPark is developing a new facility on the UVI St Croix campus scheduled for completion in 2009. Three clusters are planned for tenants, each providing a professional environment with access to world-class infrastructure, business support services and UVI resources.
- Research and Development: for public or private sector entities engaged in research or commercial product development, the Collaborative Innovation Center will provide an edge in rapid prototyping, knowledge transfer, public/private sector collaboration, and intellectual property licensing.
- Business Incubation: for startup and emerging companies engaged in new product development or the exploration of new product ideas, the Collaborative Innovation Center will provide an edge in overcoming limitations in capital and administrative resources.
- Business Center: for companies that use Internet technology to deliver a service to their customers, the Collaborative Innovation Center delivers an environment conducive to people-intensive functions such as customer support, data entry and record management, digital content authoring and publishing, and software development.
Leadership
RTPark is managed by our Executive Director who in turn reports to a 7-member Board of Directors. The composition of the Board is defined in VIC Title 17 Chapter 34 485, and includes the Chair of the UVI Board of Trustees, the President of UVI, and two additional UVI Trustees selected by their peers. In addition, three directors are appointed by the Governor of the USVI.
